Test Yardage = 50 yards.
Barrel new unfired
Ammunition Federal Bulk Pack high speed copper-coated hollow point.
20 shouts were fired then the barrel was cleaned
5-5 round groups were fired for average group size.
Groups averaged between .560-.784
The barrel was then cleaned and chemically stripped. The bore was coated with Moly-Fusion paste and then with the Moly-Fusion Treatment oil. (The chamber was also treated).
Grouping showed slight improvement over the untreated version.
Note this is cheap and DIRTY ammo, and in my experience the group size was average for the Ammo.
Times was then spent shooting 1100 rounds at different speeds using 2 shooters. The accuracy remained, as we were now shooting at 1-2 inch pieces of broken clay pigeons at a distance raging from 66-110 yards. At 100 yards, with the last magazine of ammo, breaking of the pieces occurred with 9 out of 10 shots!
The barrel was then removed from the rifle and visually inspected. Powder foutling in the bore lookes as if the gun ha fired 1 magazine. 90% of the fouling that was there was removed by using my breath to blow it out from the bore. One pass of a bore snake and the barrel was clean with no sin on ANY copper from the plated bullets.
Conclusion:
The Moly-Fusion Kit is a breeze to use!
The treated bore helped improve the accuracy of this DIRTY Ammo. This I feel, was a direct result of the decreased fouling. I usually, with this ammo, clean the bore every 200-300 rounds if the best accuracy is needed. The treatment kept the accuracy consistent even after 1100 rounds had been fired.
