To explain which Parkerizing types below you would want as to its particular usefulness to you is as follows:

The only one anymore is the Heavy-Duty Zinc Charcoal Gray.
While will never “go black”, it is designed to give great durability. It gives a heavier finish. It is more resistant to scratching with something soft like a finger nail. It is easy to use, and "idiot proof" due to the solution being as powerful as possible. It uses much more Nickel in the surface than the guardian for greater corrosion protection, and nothing else comes close to producing such a marvelous finish: by a professional, or DIY'er. This makes the liquid concentrate 20% heavier by weight per ounce, even thought he mix-ratio to water is the same.
1. The heaviest, strongest best Parkerizing available as chlorine corrosion resistance of any competing dark variety of parkerizing is the Heavy-Duty darker (to black on some metals) Manganese. In fact the Zinc Parkerizing is not available anymore. The Manganese is much more expensive for the first batch - but enormously deeper finish. The dilution ratio is approximately 1/3 of the Heavy Duty Zinc variety. This is the clear (dark) choice for small parts, hardware, Harley Davidson Motorcycle Hardware, and Hand Guns, due to the increased density of the darkest Parkerizing which holds more oil and protectant.
2. For people who wish to combine long barrels or big parts done in Zinc Parkerizing with smaller parts done in the heaviest Manganese Parkerizing for less money than two individual kits, the half-half version kits are popular:
   half-half is less expensive than two kits, since the Parkerizing Finishing Neutralizer/Water Displacement/Protectant and Degreaser are twice the size (rather than two of each). Also one kit box instead of two are used.

Size of kit to order

1. First determine how much liquid the Parkerizing Tank or Container needs to hold to completely immerse the parts.
2. Remember the Parkerizing, and all heavy-duty Parkerizing is an immersion process.
3. Back-calculate how much of the Parkerizing Solution you need.
4. Do this by knowing the dilution ratio of the Manganese and Zinc mentioned below, and remember it is a different ratio for each.
5. If you calculation is a bit more than a half-kit, full-kit, or double-size kit (Quart Kit) then go further below and order additional Parkerizing Content of the version of choice.
6. When you order any kit there is a selection button you click to determine which version of which kit or solution you want, when you order the heavy-duty kit.
