"cleaned the chain with brake cleaner, and then denatured alcohol before treating and the results were good. I took the chain off of the bike and soaked it in the alcohol after spraying several times with brake cleaner and brushed with a toothbrush to brake up the solid deposits on the chain. I used the treatment oil liberally with vinyl gloves I worked the chain in my hands to get the oil into the links, and then let it set overnight in a Ziploc bag. After treatment, I found that the chain worked flawlessly without any lubricant, but applied a small amount of Finish Line (dry) and then wiped off the excess. I was especially impressed with the smoothness of the operation after treatment. The shifting was flawless, and there was no noise in the chain even before applying the Finish Line chain lube."
