Actually the smoother and slicker the bore, the easier for the bullet to pick up the spin of the rifling. This lessoning of drag is what helps the molyfusion treated bores show the accuracy improvement that most of us have experienced.6-02-03:
Oh Yeah.two .45 ACP pistols that have very different bores and use different type of bullets.
I should probably point out that the Witness barrel has been treated a couple of times with Moly Fusion. That may have something to do with the ease of cleaning even in the rough bore.
I have a EAA Witness in 45 that I shoot mostly jacketed bullets out of. It has a very rough looking bore and I am going to replace the factory barrel soon because it just doesn't shoot very well past 15 yards. The ... has worked very well to clean this barrel. I put a coat of BW in the barrel with a nylon brush and let it sit for about 5 minutes. Then about a dozen strokes with a brass bristle brush followed by dry patches and it usually comes clean very quickly.Explanation, 10/22 6-03-03:
My Ruger 10/22 T barrel had already been treated with Molyfusion for some time when I got the Blue wonder. The molyfusion treatment made a big difference in reducing the "fowling shots" and made it easier to clean. The results in this area with Blue wonder did not change. The accuracy is consistent almost immediatly. Two or three fowling shots are usually all. I can around 50 rounds out of it before I see an apreciable deteriation on the Email match target. This means about half to two thirds way through a second target I start seeing more out then in. The accuracy loss is not great by any standards. If I were shooting squirels or something it wouldn't even be noticable. But on the match target it is there.Note Moly-Fusion™ is performing great.
