All other technology for Welding Anti-Spatter put a finish on the metal and the Splatter that occurs must then be removed. The best of them can stay on and be painted over.
However, they don't eliminate the "spatter", just put something on the metal that hot spatter won't stick to. And the product costs.4C™ Metal Prep not only is high-temperature, but being a completely oxide-free and completely conductive surface coating prevents the large splatter in the first place. It does this by allowing for a much better and deeper weld at the same setting for your welding equipment: the lack of serious splatter noted by GE Testing Lab translated into superior welding.
It also is a further time saver by allowing welding through hot mill scale (if desired) and without removal - still no serious splatter, and GE testing showed a 15% increase in welding strength according to their analysis.
In addition, it may eliminate the need to use shielding gases in welding, since there is now no longer any oxide to weld through, or at least make the shielding gases work that much better - or at least help eliminate the need to try to weld in a vacuum - and/or other welding techniques to reduce splatter. In any case it is a big step in the right direction when if comes to creating superior welds then can be achieved any other way, since it is compatable with all welding techniques - maybe obsoleting some, but if the metal is treated hot, then you have a much more perfect piece of metal to weld. It works on steel, stainless steel, and aluminum. Timing of reaction varies based on the metal and rust.
It is easy to apply, since it does everything but self-dry: spray followed by brush after wire brush of caked-on scale per directions, etc. for more information check out the welding section of the instructions as a weld prep. To reiterate, once surface reaction time is completed, excess liquid is completely removed and the surface is either air dried (takes a l o n g time) or force dried with industrial heat for a few minutes for rapid cycle time.
It is new science related to Parkerizing and self-applied Moly-FUSION coating (It itself could be called welding-FUSION: with the caviat it is 4C-Welding Prep, that is - since it is a completely conductive (not phosphate) coating.
It is guaranteed to please, and is sold as cheap as a Gun Blue - another highly reviewed and great product, but 4C as you can imagine is quite expensive to manufacture, but it needs to start at a very low price. (And stay there if it becomes say a Home Depot Product.
